Killington Resort Announces 2017 Spring Events


Killington Resort has announced that the 2017 Nor’beaster Spring Pass is now available providing unlimited spring skiing and riding from mid-March to late May (or as long as the mountain remains open). The celebration of Spring begins April 1st with the Hibernation Park Jam in Bear Mountain’s Dream Maker Park. The Dos Equis Bear Mountain Mogul Challenge will be held on April 8th the Pond Skimming on April 15th , the Dazed and Defrosted festival will be held on April 22nd, the Killington Triathlon on April 29th and the May Day Slalom and May 1st. Memorial Day weekend will hopefully have late-spring skiing and Killington summer operations will kickoff including the Killington Golf Course, Adventure Center and Mountain Bike Park. killington Vt Village News

Nearly five years after submitting an Act 250 permit application for construction of the “Killington Village” a permit has been issued (January 23, 2017). At long last, the Phase 1 design for the Killington master plan can move forward. SP Land Company has acknowledged that it is currently pursuing a developer. The first step is the construction of the resort parking project which includes realignment of part of the Killington Road and associated storm water treatment. We do not expect to see any construction this summer but remain optimistic that 2018 will usher in the start of this exciting and much needed project.

Killington Real Estate December 2016

Eleven properties sold in Killington during the month of December; six condominiums and five homes.  Two homes on Bearly Hi Way sold: a 3 bedroom/3 bath log home for $485,000 and a 6 bedroom/3 bath for $640,000. A 5 bedroom/2 bath home on Alpine Drive closed for $262,000, A 4 bedroom/5 bath with garage on Merrill Drive closed for $327,000 and a 5 bedroom/3 bath home on Barrows Towne Road sold for $279,000.

Three of the six condominiums that sold were 2 bedroom units: a 2 bed/2 bath condo at The Woods closed for $91,000; a three story town home on Brad Mead Drive sold for $142,500; and a 2 bed/2 bath Trail Creek closed for $155,000.  Two units sold at Whiffletree: a I bedroom/1 bath condo for $53,000 and a 3 bedroom/2 bath closed for $130,000.  A three story town home with 3 bed/3 bath at Colony Club sold for $210,000.

Killington Resort Announces Summer Plans

Killington Resort recently announced plans for summer activity over the next 3 to 5 years.  Plans for this summer include enhancing mountain bike trails with access to easier terrain, providing guided tours, and installing a Soaring Eagle Zip Line near the Snowshed Quad.  In 2015 Killington Resort hopes to create a Big Zip/Aerial Park with a six stage zipline located 3,000 feet up from Snowshed.  Killington also plans to expand its mountain bike operations and have hired consultants (from Gravity Logic) who believe the Resort will be very successful and "could own the northeaster market".   Killington's goal is to attract 45,000+ additional visitors by the summer of 2019.

Killington's Corporate Parent, Powdr, Loses In Court.

Powdr Corp, the corporate parent of Killington and Pico recently lost a court battle for the right to operate Park City Mountain Resort.    Powdr leases Resort Lands from Talisker Land Holdings but failed to file their intention to renew the lease by the deadline.  Vail Resorts (which bought Canyons Resort from Talisker) entered into an agreement to rent these Resort Lands from Talisker and Powdr filed suit.     Ironically Powdr owns the land underlying the base area, parking lots, snowmaking water and sewer infrastructure and Vail can't access the upper mountain.  Powdr will appeal the decision and this process could take a year.  Powdr Corp. is the largest privately held owner of United States Ski areas and Vail Resorts is the largest publicly traded owner of United States ski areas.

Killington VT Resort News

The skiing and riding season came to an end on May 18th after 199 days being open.  The 2013/2014 season began on October 24, 2013!  We hope everyone enjoyed the fantastic conditions provided by the Killington staff.    Just one week later, Killington is hosting the 2014 Stage Race, three days of competitive bike racing.  The Killington Stage Race is considered one of the most challenging in New England races and will occur May 24th-26th.

Killington Resort and Pico Mountain Announcement

Effective immediately:

Chris Nyberg has been named President and Chief Operating Officer of the resort division of Powdr Corp.

Mike Solimano has been named the President and General Manager of Killington Resort and Pico Mountain.

Chris joined Killington/Pico Ski Resort Partners, LLC. in 2007 as the president and general manger. In his tenure with our resorts, more than $20 million was invested in resort improvements including the Skye Peak Express Quad, the Roaring Brook Umbrellas Bars and Deck, snowmaking improvements along with removal of the original Peak Lodge and preparation to build Killington's new Peak facility. Chris' hard work and dedication in the ski industry will continue in Park City, Utah where he will still work with Killington Resort and Pico Mountain and visit from time to time.

Mike brings many years of experience and broad knowledge to his new role as president and general manager for Killington/Pico Ski Resort Partners, LLC. For the last 12 years, he has served as director of finance and revenue and has been instrumental in achieving the recent on-mountain and guest service improvements at our resorts. Additionally, Mike's taken on other direct responsibilities in retail sales, ticket and season pass sales and the lodging division. Mike's previous role also involved him in strategic revenue generating programs relative to other departments at the resort including but not limited to all pre-sold programs and Pico program development.

Mike and his family, wife Cara, son Connor 12 and daughters, Hannah 9 and Lauren 7 are avid skiers and active in the community. Additionally, their children are growing up as participants in the Pico Ski Club racing program. Prior to his association with Killington Mike worked seven years at Deloitte & Touché as Audit Manager and six years at Skis Dynastar as VP of Finance and Operations.

Plans for Killington Ski Village Filed

SP Land Co. filed for its Act 250 permit application for the first phase of the Killington Ski Village.  Phase 1 includes the development of 193 condominiums, 9 single family lots, 23 duplex lots, 31,000 sq ft of retail space and 77,000 square foot base lodge.  A separate Act 250 permit was filed for a 1,276 vehicle parking lot.  Estimated cost for Phase 1 is $133,400,000.  No specific time frame was offered but this is certainly great news for all property owners in Killington.

Killington SnowMont Music Festival Announced

Killington has announced that it will be hosting a three day (March 30-April 1) music festival.  "Killington Resort is thrilled to host a three-day music festival in partnership with the S.N.O.W. series that will feature live performances from top-notch musicians," stated Matt Porter, events and partnerships manager for Killington Resort.  Some of the musicians performing include Kaskade, Snoop Dog, The Flaming Lips, Slightly Stoopid, Big Boi, Chromeo, Diplo, and Lotus.

Eight properties sold in Killington during the month of November. A 3 bedroom/2 bath home on Anthony Way sold for $225,000 and the following seven condominiums also closed: A 1 bedroom/1 bath Mountain Green sold for $39,000; a 1 bedroom/loft/2 bath Highridge sold for $161,666; a 3 bedroom/2 bath town home at Hemlock Ridge sold for $150,000; a 3 bedroom/ 3 bath town home at Colony Club sold for $212,500; a 3 bedroom/3 bath condominium sold at Sunrise for $245,000; a 3 bedroom/3bath condominium sold at The Lodges  for $365,000; and a 3 bedroom/4bath town home sold at Topridge for $606,500.
